Dear friend:
Everyday, more institutions and people all around the World are aware of the necessity to decrease
blindness in developing countries, as a way to improve their chances to get rid of poverty in the future.
On the other hand, we must face important difficulties, such as massive figures of blind people and limited human and economic resources.
We are herein pleased to invite you to participate in the III International Meeting for the
Prevention of Blindness in Developing Countries, that will take place the 28th and 29th of October in Logroño, La Rioja, Spain.
The III International Meeting for the Prevention of Blindness in Developing Countries
objectives are:
- Update the knowledge and tools to improve prevention of blindness programmes in developing countries.
- To analyse the changes taken place in the last 10 years in fight against blindness in relation to WHO´s
priority diseases, particularly in Africa.
- To explore the evidence arround human resources in developing countries and their importance in
strengthening prevention of blindness programmes.
- To divulgate prevention of blindness work from different european NGOs in order to promote collaboration
and knowledge shareing between different organizations.
- To present the Spanish Society for prevention of blindness in developing countries and its objectives.
We’d also be happy to share a few days with you, enjoying together discovering this ancient region
of Spain, La Rioja, home of the Spanish language, compulsory stop at the Route to Santiago and home
of one of the best wines in the world.
